Long, medium and short-term assessments
Short Term
Build informal assessment into daily lessons
Diagnose mistakes and put them right as soon as possible
Mark samples of work thoroughly and give good feedback
Medium Term
Set occasional informal tests – spellings, gender, tense, etc.
Plan written assessments every five weeks or half term
Identify pupils’ strengths and weaknesses against key objectives
Long Term
Use end of year tests to help find what children have learned
